Installer Training
8th May - 9th May
"Building with ICFs is simple, all you do is stick 1 block on top of the other and fill it with concrete." How many times have we heard that? Its ususally from a builder you has never poured concrete into a wall before let alone tried to build a house this way. |
| Building with bricks is simple, all you do it mix up some mortar and stick one brick on top of another, but would you honestly employ someone with no experience to build a brick house for you, or try it yourself without training? No, so that's where the Logix training programme comes in. |
| The 2 day cause covers all the aspects of working with Logix from both a practical and theoretical view including: |
tools and equipment |
handling and cutting the blocks |
how different floors systems work with the system and options for damp proofing. |
how different roof systems work with the system |
how to install reinforcement |
making window and door openings |
bracing and propping walls to ensure they are straight. |
concrete mix design, and filling options |
how to fill the walls properly |
how follow on trades work with Logix, including electrics, plumbing, finishes, etc. |
Plus lots more to help your project go smoothly |
The 2 day course is designed to give you a thorough grounding in ICF construction before you start building on site. Building with Logix is quick, if you are organised and have the materials you'll need ready. But the course doesn't finsh when you leave. It includes follow up site visits to check what you've built before you fill it, and providing hands on support when filling the walls with concrete by pump for the 1st time.
The course runs at "The National Selfbuild Centre" in Swindon, which offers a number of benefits. With a wide variety of building elements and products on display running the training course at the centre allows us tob break out of the confines of the class room and see how other parts of your build will fit together with Logix. The centre also has excellent travel links, either by car or rail, and a good choice of hotels close by for those lookiong to stay overnight. The course costs £495+vat, and covers all materials, lunch both days, entry to the centre, and the 2 days of onsite follow up support.

"I'm a busy builder, can't you provide training on site?" |
| While training on site can be arranged it is always a poor subsistute to the training course. Training on site is naturally limited to dealing with what's in front of you at that time. By investing the time to look at the system in detail, before you start building you'll be more orgainsed, better able to cope with questions or problems as they arise, and you'll build faster and better. (Costs for onsite training will be quoted on a project by project basis) |
